Interview with Dr. Wilfred Aguila, author of 'Why I Don't Lose Weight'

Q: Welcome to The Writer's Life, Dr. A.  Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how long you’ve been writing?

A: I started writing after I conquered my battle with binge eating. I wanted to share with others the lessons  that I learned which helped me keep the weight off.

Q: Can you please tell us about your book and why you wrote it?

A:Why I Don’t Lose Weight is an easy-to-read blueprint to help people understand what causes the triggers that make them seek food for comfort. The book explains how a cycle of overeating can form and what you need to do to stop it.

Q: What were some of the biggest challenges you faced writing it?

A: Explaining my story and coming to terms with my own weight problem was my biggest challenge. I wanted to be honest in my writing so that the reader could connect with the story.

Q: Do you have a press kit and what do you include in it?  Does this press kit appear online and, if so, can you provide a link to where we can see it?

A: I have a press kit that may be obtained by contacting my agent Annie Jennings PR at

Q: Have you either spoken to groups of people about your book or appeared on radio or TV?  What are your upcoming plans for doing so?

A: Yes, I have appeared in numerous morning shows and on the radio nationally. I am scheduled to speak at a conference in Rhode Island in late April.

Q: Do you have an agent and, if so, would you mind sharing who he/is is?  If not, have you ever had an agent or do you even feel it’s necessary to have one?

A: I did not have an agent at the time that I published this book but I do have an agent now for my next project and her name is Marilyn Allen from the Allen/O’Shea Literary Agency.

Q: Did you, your agent or publisher prepare a media blitz before the book came out and would you like to tell us about it?

A: We did prepare a media blitz to introduce the book. We have continued to promote the book on television, radio, and print. I host a weekly radio show (The Dr. A Show) where I interview expert guests whose ideas complement those in my book.

Q: Do you plan subsequent books?

A: I am working on a follow-up to Why I Don’t Lose Weight which will expand on the ideas of the first book and detail several tips and eating strategies to help the reader with his or her weight loss. Another project is a book on the cycle of success and how it can be applied in life, love, and business.
Q: Thank you for your interview, Dr. A.  Would you like to tell my readers where they can find you on the web and how everyone can buy your book?

A: My book is available on Amazon or through my website.
